Eurovision 2022 airs on the BBC this week with the second of two semi-finals starting on May 12. Coverage of the event, in Italy, will air throughout the week on various platforms until Saturday’s grand finale. There will be three hosts this year and Express.co.uk has the last one.

Who are the hosts of Eurovision 2022?

Mike

An unlikely host this year, pop star Mika will take to the stage in Italy to kick off the party.

The Lebanese singer was born in Beirut and raised in Paris, France.

His family moved to London when he was nine and he became a household name with his track Grace Kelly.

On why he’s hosting Eurovision this year, the star told The One Show: “I did TV in Italy.

“I learned to speak Italian just because I had this opportunity to go and do The X Factor in Italy.

“I learned in a few months, luckily my Italian is better now.”

The semi-finals will take place on BBC Three on May 10 and 12, with Rylan Clark hosting the proceedings.

Although the UK won’t be participating as one of the Big Five, Rylan is looking forward to seeing the other artists take to the stage.

As reported by Yahoo, he said, “I have a few favorites.

“Norway, especially since their song is quite ‘new’, but at the same time, it’s extremely catchy and it’s a great track. They are definitely ones to watch.”

Rylan is best known for his appearance on The X Factor and for hosting various shows such as Supermarket Sweep, Ready Steady Cook and a number of Big Brother spin-offs.

AJ Odudu

After her successful stint on Strictly Come Dancing, finalist AJ Odudu joins the Eurovision squad this year.

She will announce the UK’s vote in Saturday’s final.

Due to her infectious personality, she has been picked up by a number of TV channels as a host.

The 34-year-old is known for fronting Big Brother’s Bit on the Side and Married at First Sight: Afters.

On Instagram, she said: “HELLOOOOO it’s Salford calling!

“I am more than delighted to be the first Eurovision spokesperson to present the British jury’s twelve points live from the North West.

“Can’t wait to say ‘Ciao Italia’ in my best Lancashire accent. Team Space Man, assemble! @bbceurovision.” [Sic]

Scott Mills

Scott Mills will join Rylan to help with semi-final coverage and he has plenty of experience.

Having hosted the semi-finals since 2011, he was eager to get back in action.

He said: “The last time we were all together was in Tel Aviv in 2019, which was in the top five of the best weeks I’ve ever had, but there was no contest in 2020 – and last year we presented the semi-finals from a studio in London, we weren’t really in Rotterdam, we were watching it on TV like everyone else.

“I missed my annual trip to Eurovision so much and can’t wait to get back to it.”

The 48-year-old DJ is known for presenting his show on BBC Radio 1.

Eurovision 2022 returns on May 12 on BBC Three, with the grand finale airing on BBC One on Saturday.
